During December and January, Appetite and Gallery present LoveCoffee. We’re looking for the most popular Barista in Jersey. No, not those people in silly wigs who know their legal mumbo jumbo, but those fabulous people in coffee shops who understand the necessary idiosyncrasies of your double shot latte.

What’s it all about?

We’ve just moved Gallery into town and with coffee shops at every corner we’re now brimming with caffeine fuelled joy.  Ahead of our 2012 Appetite eating guide we thought we’d find out who the people of Jersey thought was the island’s best barista (coffee maker extraordinaire) and give them some love.

Far more than just operators of coffee machines, skilled baristas learn the whole art of making a cup of coffee, from how to operate the machine correctly to coffee grinding and tamping methods, extraction times, water temperature and milk frothing. Taking the process beyond skinny lattes and flat whites, an experienced barista can gauge their customers’ coffee preferences, creating a perfect blend every time.

Fill out one of the Love Coffee voting cards and drop it into the collection boxes in participating coffee shops between the 1st December and the 15th January and tell us which barista knows their beans.
